Banks Academy and The WellHouse

Grant Recipients 2023

Through God’s provision and our partners’ generosity, on September 26, 2023, we celebrated and awarded $181,000 to two amazing ministries that God is using to impact Birmingham! 

Banks Academy $81,000

Banks Academy is a private Christian school that provides a quality education in mind, body, and spirit for our students creating followers of Christ to be productive leaders in a diverse community.
Target Group:  90 students enrolled in grades 9-12
*Students are zoned for five failing public high schools
*86% of student population falls within low or extremely-low income classification
*There are 64 boys comprising 71% of the students.  Boys this age are the greatest “At Risk” for having poor academic performance, dropping out and not thriving in life.
*African Americans comprise 94% and Latino comprise 6% of student population.


Banks Academy was awarded $81,000 to purchase a 15-passenger van to provide daily transportation to and from school for their growing student body.

The WellHouse

The WellHouse exists to honor God by rescuing and providing opportunities for restoration to female victims of human trafficking who have been sexually exploited.
Target Group:  Female victims of sex trafficking.
The WellHouse was awarded $100,000 to support transportation needs for survivors of human trafficking, as well as their work therapy program, ShopWell.

ABOUT OHSB

One Hundred Shares Birmingham (OHSB) is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2018, affiliated with the National Christian Foundation to hold and distribute funds. Our desire is for a partnership comprised of 100-plus Birmingham women who agree to donate $1,000 to the organization each year for a minimum of five (5) years. Annually, the grant monies are awarded to non-profit Birmingham-based Christian ministries who serve those in need and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
