Grant Recipients 2026
Through God’s provision and our partners’ generosity, on September 22, 2026, we had the joy of awarding $190,000 to FOUR amazing ministries that God is using to impact Birmingham! We were pleased to announce our 2026 OHSB grant recipients.
Manufactured Good
Manufacture Good was awarded $50,000 for the purchase of two essential forklifts - a warehouse forklift (used in the shop) and a material mover (LULL) that is used for training in exterior lumber and firewood operations. Both are critical to the safety, training, and certification of apprentices in our Gospel-centered workplace development program.
Manufacture Good exists to train, equip, and invest in young men through hands-on training, mentorship, and Gospel-centered community. Through their 3 month paid apprenticeship program, participants gain practical job skills, professional development and personal support that help them move toward stable employment and purposeful lives. They believe meaningful work, strong mentorship and faith centered community can change the trajectory of a young man’s life and strengthen families and neighborhoods.
Their target group is young men in Birmingham - often under resourced, unemployed, or rebuilding after incarceration - seeking job skills, stability and spiritual formation.
Royal Divinity Ministries
Royal Divinity Ministries was awarded $47,000 to renovate the bathrooms. A portion of our clients live without electricity and /or running water. Welcoming our neighbors into a climate controlled environment to receive help, and if desired, experience the dignity of a hot shower on a cold winter day in the harsh Alabama temperatures, would be a gift from God.
Royal Divinity Ministries exists to provide opportunities for spiritual, social, educational and economic advancement for families in need.
Their target group population is low income families living in western Birmingham, including elderly heads of household, single parents and veterans.
Holcomb Ministries
Holcomb Ministries was awarded $50,000 to fund: hot meals that will be delivered to the 5 NICU hospitals, gas cards, parking reimbursement, blessing bags & boxes that include a parent devotion book, a Psalm 23 baby book, a letter that shares the gospel, cosmetics & snacks. The grant request money will also pay for 10 virtual counseling sessions per parent (of a child in the NICU) with a Christian counselor.
Holcomb Ministries is seeking to expand our “Nourish the NICU” program, providing hospital meals to connect more families and medical providers with our Gospel-centered Biblical counseling and intentional resources as they walk through the emotional, financial, and logistical challenges of a NICU stay.
Their target group is NICU families and NICU medical providers in Birmingham.
Urban Hope Development
Urban Hope Development was awarded $43,000 to go directly to expanding their reading intervention and tutoring within Fairfield. They currently provide tutoring and intervention services in Fairfield Middle School and Glen Oaks Intermediate schools in the city of Fairfield. This program will expand to be able to serve more students with trained interventionists and tutors in the middle school. They will be hiring an Education Program Manager to assist with the tutoring. This person will be trained in the Wilson Education Systems to be an effective resource as well as an active tutor. The new hire will assist with enrolling students in their tutoring program as well as planning leading up to and implementation of our UHope Success Academy during the month of June each year.
Their mission is to equip students and families with opportunities to learn, grow, and be all they were created to be in their community.
Urban Hope Development's target group is predominantly Fairfield City Schools students. This includes middle school students (rising 6th, 7th, & 8th graders) as well as some high school students. Residents in Fairfield and parents of our students in Fairfield.
